13) HTML, XHTML W3C code compliant SEO web pages

What is W3C ????

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is the main international standards organization for the World Wide Web (abbreviated WWW or W3).

Founded and headed by Tim Berners-Lee, the consortium is made up of member organizations which maintain full-time staff for the purpose of working together in the development of standards for the World Wide Web. As of 18 February 2011, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has 322 members.

W3C also engages in education and outreach, develops software and serves as an open forum for discussion about the Web.

OK! Now let’s go over how W3C will effect your web site.

W3C comes in many forms. The most basic and important in my opinion is;

1) Markup Validation Service
Check to see if your web pages pass the W3C Markup Validation Service validation check.
You may check your web page by inserting your web page url (web page adress) into the provided address input field and by clicking on “Check”. When the new web page opens you will get a message saying “This document was successfully checked as XHTML 1.0 Transitional!” (this is good news and your web page is in W3C SEO great shape) or “Errors found while checking this document”.
If there are any errors make sure to check mark the the “Show Source” box under “Options” and then click on the “Revalidate” button. When the new window opens your web page source code will show (scroll down to view). This tool makes it very easy to find the line where the indicated errors are on your web page by using the line error code and matching it with the source code line.

It is important to note that most website web pages do not pass the above W3C Markup Validation Service validation check. Therefore making your web pages comply and pass the W3C Markup Validation Service validation check will give your web site web pages one basic advantage over most if not all of your competition when it comes to search engine optimization SEO.

2) Correcting your Markup Validation Service errors;

Find your individual errors line by line (using the above method) by finding your web page errors using the W3C Markup Validation Service validation check.
Then you or your website developer designer may make your W3C code corrections.
It is important to remember that web pages that have banners and iframes made by other websites can sometimes be corrected by you and other times can only be corrected by the original banner or iframe developer.

For those of you who may not have the time or expertise or currently do not have a website developer designer or a developer designer capable of correcting your web page code I offer HTML code compliance help service at $99.00 per hour. The hourly price is rather high but correcting code is a mind consuming practice for most of us and this is why I urge everybody who is just beginning to build their website to follow the steps in this website’s sections “SEO How to Build WebSite Help” and “StudioPress by WordPress Installation Self Help”.

Please note that if your web pages have many errors and is outdated it maybe better to start building a new web site.

I hope the above information has helped explain W3C Markup Validation.
